Q. How do I prepare for a Competition/Sunless Tan?
A. Shave and exfoliate thoroughly with our Pre-Tan Scrub. Pay special attention to your knees, ankles, feet, elbows and knuckles. This will eliminate dead skin cells and prepare your skin for a flawless competition tan with our spray tan supplies. Make sure you skin is freshly showered, dry and free of lotion, oil, deodorant, perfume or make-up prior to tanning as these products could interfere with the development of your tan.
Did you FORGET TO EXFOLIATE! Use our Pre-Tan Prep Spray to prepare your skin (last minute) prior to your tan! Spray on...wipe off! It's that easy! The easiest way to prepare for sunless tanning products.
Q. When should I start applying my color for competition?
A. We recommend that you start the day prior to your competition with Ultimate Competition Bronze (base coat). 1 to 2 coats is recommended. Allow adequate drying time in-between coats. DO NOT WASH OR SHOWER for 6-8 hours. Competition tanning clients should not shower until after the show, unless otherwise advised. Ultimate Competition Bronze contains a natural form of10% DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) which enables the tan to bond to or stain the skin. It takes approximately 6-8 hours for this bond to occur. As this bond occurs, the color will ‘develop’ or deepen.
If you need an extra boost of color, we recommend applying EXTREME Wash-Off Formula. Apply Extreme as your last coat of color on top of Ultimate Competition Bronze to deepen or darken the tan. We recommend applying Extreme the morning of competition. Because this formula does not contain DHA, it dries quickly and does not darken as it dries. The more coats you apply, the darker the tan. Extreme is also perfect to touch-up your tan throughout the competition as needed.
Q. How do you apply Elite Tan Competition Products?
A. All of our sunless Competition Tanning Products can be applied like any other Competition Product. However, for a flawless finish we recommend you spray the product directly from the bottle onto your skin. Catch any runs and blend with a mini paint roller to blend (E-tan roller). Only roll in one direction to blend and repeat until entire body is covered. You should allow product to Air Dry...Do NOT roll it dry.
Remember the less you mess with your tan the better the results! The best self tanning products make it easy to get beautiful results.
*An average size person needs 2oz of product per coat.
For Best Results -we recommend air-brushing your tan using an HVLP spray tan system.
Q. How dark will I get?
A. The depth of color will depend on skin tone, application technique and how many coats are applied. You will get darker with each coat applied. Generally no more than three coats are needed to achieve the depth of color desired for the stage.
Keep in mind that your sunless tan will darken as it develops or ‘sets’.
Q. What should I wear after my Competition/Sunless tan is applied?
A. Wear loose fitting dark clothes. Tight fitting clothing will cause the tan to rub off.
Cotton works best after tanning product application.
Q. What is the difference between Ultimate Competition Bronze and Extreme Competition Bronze?
A. Ultimate Competition Bronze provides a rich, mahogany color. Ultimate is considered a base-coat because it contains a 10% DHA solution, which allows it to stain the skin. If left on the skin for more than 6 hours, it will deepen to a beautiful, natural-looking sunless tan and typically lasts 3-5 days.
Extreme Competition Bronze is a deep, brown color designed to be used as a top-coat or bronzer to intensify the Ultimate Competition Bronze for a darker look on-stage. Extreme is considered a top-coat or bronzer because it contains no DHA (a 0% DHA solution). This means it will dry very quickly and will wash-off completely in the shower.
Q. How will Elite Tan products affect my sensitive skin?
A. Elite Tan products are made with natural ingredients that condition your skin, not harm it. Our products are the best self-tanning product and do not contain gluten, parabens, alcohol or acetone found in other tanning products. Our products are vegetable/plant-based, are vegan and are not tested on animals.

Q. How do I ensure my Elite Tan Products stay fresh?
A. Elite Tan solutions are made fresh to ensure your tan is top-notch! However, they need to be kept out of direct sunlight and heat to stay fresh. Elite Tan products contain Tocopherol (Vitamin E), a natural preservative, rather than harsh chemicals found in other tanning solutions. As a result, the shelf life is limited to 6 months. The cap should always be screwed on tightly and store the bottle in a cool, dry place.
For extended shelf life (over 6 months), we strongly recommend cold storage/refrigeration. DO NOT freeze. It is very important to always shake the tanning solution prior to every use. This blends the pigments and prevents color separation.
NOTE: product should be removed from the refrigerator 24 hours prior to use so it is room temperature.
A. Sunless tans containing DHA typically will last 3-5 days. Every day, millions of dead skin cells slough off the surface of your skin. As the dead cells are worn away, so is your tan. Many factors can affect the longevity of your sunless tan including skin prep prior to tanning. Chlorine from pools, hot tubs, excessive sweating or tight-fitting clothing all cause faster fading.
Q. How do I care for my sunless tan "after" my competition?
A. Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize! Keeping your skin moisturized will prevent dryness and preserve the life of your tan and allows for more even fading of the tan. To remove the tan more quickly we recommend exfoliating daily followed by a natural moisturizer such as Elite Tan’s Coconut Body Cream.
Q. When will my order ship?
A. We process orders Monday - Friday. We do not process or ship orders on weekends or holidays. Orders are currently being shipped out within 2-3 days. Please note that shipping time is added to the 2 days. If we have difficulty shipping your product, we will notify you by email.
Please make sure you provide the correct shipping and email address on your order. Additional shipping charges and a processing fee of $10 will be added to orders processed with an incorrect shipping address.
SHIPPING POLICY: We will ship your products as soon as your order is complete. Please allow a minimum of 2 business days to process your order. We strive to package within 24-48 hours, but this is not guaranteed. Please check the product page for more current information on shipping. Multiple products placed in the same order will ship together.
DOMESTIC SHIPPING: All domestic orders are shipped via FedEx ground or US Priority mail. This service takes 2-7 business days (depending on your shipping region).
We also offer FedEx 2nd Day Air. Note: Saturday and Sunday do not count as shipping days for any expedited methods. So, if your order is shipped Friday via FedEx 2nd Day Air, you will not receive it until Tuesday. If you would like to confirm shipping, please feel free to call: 719-355-9975.
How do you bill my credit card?
It will show up as Elite-Tan.com
RETURN POLICY: We cannot accept returns on opened merchandise. All un-opened merchandise can be returned within 10 days for exchange, or credit, but we must first be notified of the returned shipment by email: firstname.lastname@example.org. The customer is responsible for all shipping charges on returns and all returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee.
ORDER CANCELLATION POLICY: Orders can be cancelled before they are shipped for a 10% processing fee. Orders that have been shipped cannot be cancelled and must be returned by the customer. (The 20% restocking fee would apply). Filing a chargeback with your credit card company and receiving the package is a felony. Elite Tan reports all internet crime to the proper authorities and turns the person over to our collection lawyers. Customers filing chargebacks are responsible for all fees incurred to collect the debt.
